No, you will get into shape as you train. We have a series of movements that you will learn as you progress through the ranking system which will enable you to perform the self defense techniques.
No, you are not too old to begin martial arts training. Practical Wing Chun regularly has students start from adolecense through their 50's and older. It is a practical and effective martial art that does not incorporate gymnastics.
Both are very practical, however Practical Wing Chun has modified many of the moves in the forms to make them more similar to the exercises we train.
We also have a slightly different stance and look to get closer to our opponent than in Traditional Wing Chun.
The 1.5hr class each week is recommended as well as practicing at home. As you progress through the ranks if you want extra 1-to-1 attention then we offer private lessons which can further help you hone your skills.
It takes approximately 3-5 years to reach finish the system depending on how often you train, and your previous training experience.
There are two main things to ask yourself:
1. Do I enjoy the training?
2. Do I feel the martial art is effective for my goals?
